Ingredients
| 4 | big russet potatoes, peeled and cut into chunks |
| 4 | garlic cloves, chopped |
| 120 g (1/2 cup) | unsalted butter |
| 120 ml (1/2 cup) | milk |
| to taste | salt and pepper |
| to taste | fresh parsley, chopped (optional, for garnish) |
Instructions
- Put the potato chunks in a big pot and add water to cover them. Add a dash of salt. Once the water comes to a boil, cook the potatoes for 15 to 20 minutes.
- While the potatoes cook, melt the butter in a small saucepan over low heat. Once the garlic is aromatic, add it and simmer for 1 to 2 minutes.
- Drain the potatoes and return them to the saucepan. Spread the garlic butter mixture over the potatoes.
- Use a potato masher to thoroughly mash the potatoes. As you mash, gradually add the milk until the desired consistency is reached. Season with salt and pepper as needed.
- If desired, garnish with lightly chopped fresh parsley. Serve warm.
