Ingredients
| 12 (1 ounce / 28 g each) | mozzarella sticks |
| 1/2 cup (65 g) | unbleached all-purpose flour |
| 2 | large eggs |
| 1/2 cup (30 g) | panko bread crumbs |
| 1 tablespoon | grated Parmesan cheese |
| 1/4 teaspoon | Italian seasoning |
| 1/4 teaspoon | salt |
| 1 teaspoon | garlic powder |
| as needed | non-stick cooking spray |
Instructions
- The hardest part is removing the cheese sticks from their wrappers.
- Cut each mozzarella stick in half.
- Place the mozzarella sticks on parchment paper lined on a baking sheet that fits in your freezer.
- Freeze the baking sheet with the sticks for 25 minutes.
- After 25 minutes, set up your breading: place the flour in one bowl.
- In a second bowl beat the eggs until nice and frothy.
- In a third bowl mix the panko, Parmesan and seasonings (Italian seasoning, salt, garlic powder) well.
- Dip each frozen mozzarella stick into the flour, then the egg wash, then the bread-crumb mixture.
- Return the coated sticks to the parchment-lined baking sheet as you go.
- Freeze them again for about 1 hour.
- Preheat the air fryer to 200°C (this is one of the few recipes worth preheating for).
- Spray the air fryer basket with non-stick cooking spray so they don't stick.
- Do not overcrowd the basket.
- Spray the mozzarella sticks while in the air fryer for a nice golden colour, and cook for 6 minutes at 200°C.
- Plate, serve and enjoy!
