Ingredients
| 2 cups (250 g) | all-purpose flour |
| 1 tablespoon | sugar |
| 1 tablespoon | baking powder |
| 2 teaspoons | garlic powder |
| ½ teaspoon | salt |
| ¼ teaspoon | cayenne pepper (optional) |
| 1 cup (240 ml) | buttermilk |
| ½ cup (115 g) | unsalted butter, melted |
| 1½ cups (170 g) | sharp cheddar cheese, shredded |
| 3 tablespoons | unsalted butter, melted (topping) |
| 1 tablespoon | fresh parsley leaves, chopped (topping) |
| ½ teaspoon | garlic powder (topping) |
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 230°C (450°F). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Combine the flour, baking powder, sugar, garlic powder, salt and cayenne in a mixing bowl.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the buttermilk and melted butter. Pour over the flour mixture and stir with a fork just until moist — the batter will be lumpy.
- Gently stir in the shredded cheese.
- Scoop ¼-cup portions of batter onto the lined baking sheet.
- Bake until the tops are golden brown, about 10-12 minutes.
- Stir together the melted butter, parsley and garlic powder to make the topping. Brush over the top of each biscuit and serve.
