Ingredients
| 3 1/2 cups (440 g) | all-purpose flour |
| 2 tsp | active dry yeast |
| 2 tsp | salt |
| 2 tsp | sugar |
| 2 tbsp (30 ml) | olive oil |
| 1/4 cup (30 g) | sun-dried tomatoes, lightly chopped |
| 1/4 cup (6 g) | fresh basil, chopped |
| 1 1/2 cups (360 ml) | warm water |
Instructions
- Combine the flour, yeast, salt and sugar in a large mixing bowl. Add the sun-dried tomatoes, olive oil and fresh basil to the bowl.
- Pour the warm water in a slow, steady stream while stirring the mixture until the dough comes together, then turn it out onto a floured surface.
- Knead for about 10 minutes until the dough is smooth and elastic. Place it in a greased bowl, cover with a clean kitchen towel and let rise in a warm location for about 2 hours, or until doubled in size.
- Set the oven to 200°C (400°F). Punch down the dough to remove any air bubbles, shape it into a loaf and set it on a baking sheet. Cover with the kitchen towel and let rise for an extra hour.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until golden brown. Remove from the oven and let it cool on a wire rack before slicing.
