Ingredients
| 2 tablespoons (30 ml) | vegetable oil |
| 1½ pounds (680 g) | trimmed sirloin steak, ½ inch thick, cubed |
| 1 | large onion, diced |
| 1 quart (950 ml) | water |
| 3 | large potatoes, cubed |
| 3 | large carrots, sliced |
| 2 | beef bouillon cubes |
| 1 teaspoon (2 g) | ground cumin |
| 1 teaspoon (2 g) | pepper |
| 1 teaspoon (6 g) | salt |
Instructions
- Add the oil to a deep saucepan or stockpot and heat over medium heat. Add the steak cubes and stir-cook until evenly browned, about 3 minutes.
- Add the onion and stir-cook for 6–7 minutes, until softened and the steak is cooked through.
- Mix in the remaining ingredients (water, potatoes, carrots, bouillon cubes, cumin, salt and pepper) and bring to a boil, then simmer until the vegetables are tender.
